Homeowners who are keen to sell their property quick when they put it on the market might be tempted to consider fitting a new kitchen, after it has been revealed this is still a must-have for property buyers these days.
While square footage, location, outdoor space and off-street parking are important factors to consider when purchasing a property, apparently so is the state of the kitchen.
This is according to James Anderson Estate Agents, which said they are so sought after by homebuyers, having a new one installed would be the best way to add value to your property.
Director of the estate agent Peter Davey told The Express: “To help maximise the value of your property open plan living, kitchen renovations and luxury bathrooms are the best improvements to make in order to increase the value of your home. These areas have the most value per square metre and are most in-demand for homeowners.”
He went on to say an open-plan kitchen/family room is the desire of many homeowners, as this room would become the “heart of the home”.
In this case, demand for decorators in Hampshire is likely to be high, as households look to complete the re-fitting of their kitchen with freshly painted walls, new tiles and new floors.
Gino Grossi, marketing manager at range cooker brand Leisure, agrees with Mr Davey, saying kitchens are one of the “highest priorities for homeowners” as they are not only used for cooking, but entertaining family and friends.
Jason Orme, content director for My Homebuilding, Real Homes and Period Living Magazine, also recently advised sellers to consider installing smart home technology, such as lighting and security, as this is particularly “in vogue” at the moment.
